About the Institute
The Human BioMolecular Research Institute (HBRI) is a 501(c)3 tax-exempt non-profit research institute doing basic research for the public good. HBRI was founded in December of 1997. The institute is located in the heart of Biotech Beach in San Diego, California.
About the Science
The research programs at HBRI are focused on the development of fundamental information useful to understand and ameliorate human diseases. Included in the disease areas of study are: cardiovascular disease, neurological diseases, cancer and bone diseases. Previously, brain diseases including Alzheimer’s disease and related neurodegenerative disorders, Parkinson’s disease, depression, attention deficit disorder, alcohol and drug abuse, chronic pain and smoking cessation were undertaken. HBRI takes a multidisciplinary approach to understanding the molecular basis for disease and developing medications to combat disease.
Our Mission Statement
HBRI’s mission is to conduct basic research related to human disorders and help develop new therapeutic agents that address these disorders and promote scientific learning through community service and public access.
