CELL BIOLOGIST/CANCER CELL BIOLOGIST – Postdoc

HBRI currently has an opening for a Cell Biologist/Cancer Cell Biologist-Postdoc

DESCRIPTION:

A postdoc/staff position to enhance professional development of the scientist; help conduct research within the area of active research of Senior or Staff Scientists; provide new research expertise to research program and provide scientific experience within field of expertise.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Conduct active lab research on a semi-independent or independent basis in conjunction with Senior or Staff scientists. Conduct experiments; develop new ideas that promote current research; prepare and publish scientific manuscripts; bring new expertise to the research program.
  2. Help conduct research program; support research program; implement research progress; prepare and publish scientific manuscripts; help support grant activities; supervise technical staff and interns; apply for grant fellowships subject to Institute’s approval.
  3. Directly train, mentor, and supervise Technicians and Interns.
  4. Institute Functions: Help further the goals of the Institute; serve on committees; attend research meetings.
  5. Conduct other duties as assigned by the Institute.

REQUIREMENTS:

Ph.D., M.D. or equivalent in related field from an accredited institution; completion of professional pre-doctoral training with a minimum of relevant research experience. Have the ability to undertake independent research where little or no supervision is required.

Research experience in cancer cell biology, molecular biology, protein purification and enzymatic/receptor kinetic studies required. Stem cell biology, hybridoma and analytical work with antibodies, ELISAs, animal work xenograft experience, expression library construction and functional screening experience are a plus.

The successful candidate will possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. Past experience in writing manuscripts and grant/proposal applications is a plus.

Terms of Employment

Full time position. Six months observation period. Evaluation at six months, and annually at anniversary date. A Postdoc/staff Scientist is typically an exempt employee, hired with full benefits.
